wiesn 24
For all those who know me know that one of the reasons I initially chose to study in Munich was the beer. What’s better than a good old helles? It should be no surprise then to know that I also love wiesn. The life it pumps into Munich is magical. The colour, the sounds, the food, the people and oh, the beer! Don’t get me wrong, it can also be chaos. An absolute nightmare for an introvert. For about two and a bit weeks, my city turns into a Zoo - But that’s all part of the fun.
This year, as much as I had a great time at wiesn, it just wasn’t the same for me. That spark was slightly missing. Why that is isn’t so important, but one can say that life isn’t always smooth sailing. Nonetheless, off I went!
The one thing I really love is seeing people enjoy themselves. Isnt that a pleasure in life? Seeing people smile, sing, dance? From old couples to new-born babies, all dressed up in tracht and all looking dashing. Yes, it can be expensive and yes also over-touristed but that’s a price that’s fair to pay when making great memories are concerned, no?
Tipsy Auzzy is a very social Auzzy. And social Auzzy makes friends very easily. Here are some nice-hearted people that we met. Be it individuals, groups of tourists or even owners of tents who give you one-of-a-few special memorabilia. Apart from the beer, it’s all about the people you meet. Starting off with a prooooost is all it takes.
(left) Here’s a group of lovely americans that invited me the next day to their reservation. After many laughs and good conversation, they were so sweet to offer me a room in their place whenever I go over to Texas or New Jersey in the states. It’s all possible at wiesn!
(right) Here's another lovely couple, that were able to ditch their kids for the night and enjoy a date night out.
You know Tom loves the Bavarian culture when he travels 6 hours each way only to have a couple of beers and go back the same day!
Special guest all the way from Colombia!
My boss (right) – love the guy – is elderly but can drink as much as I can… and that’s saying something!
S and N, my mates from over the ditch in Australia, capturing this beauty on their digital camera. (those things still exist)
So then, that’s a wrap. Until next year, where youll find me auf der Bank stehend. Bis dann.
